As we already read in the previous blog, sociology is related majorly to the rise of modernity in various western countries as a result of revolutions and the renaissance. Thus analyzing the social patterns using sociology was considered significant to study modern societies in detail.
Sociology has its root components linked with a clear understanding of society with the objective arrangement of social life. However, due to continuous change in societal aspects, sociology is differentially applicable to multiple fields giving clear information about the impact of a particular event on society or social life. Emergence Of Sociology.
What led to sociological development?
An important factor in the development of sociology has been noting own and observing the history for a long. The subject of social interest was especially focused on and commented on in regards to improvement in social life.
But apart from this, history resembles but is completely different (more we would read in 1B). Since history defines events and talks about the past, sociology considers the impact of events on social life. It is due to this reason, that sociology was developed to learn more about the emerging aspects of the changing world. Emergence Of Sociology.
The emergence of Sociology.
Even if sociology has emerged in the past few years (is a newer subject), it explains much about social interactions, relationships, and institutions. It regulates the key strength and capabilities of society in a very systematic manner to understand the world from a common vantage point for all individuals.
The emergence of society has made us aware of all the strong and weaker areas of sociology that need to be considered for reference study. It provides us the basic knowledge about how societies work and to what extent a particular social event can become a point of benefit or problematic issue for an individual living in a society.
Furthermore, it is known that the gradual change and developments in the 19th century were the basic cause for the emergence of sociology as a discipline. Sociology as an additional science was required to divide the events under terms of political, social, and economic reforms. The emergence of sociology can be traced back to a result of multiple factors mentioned as follows:
The Enlightenment age.
- During this period the sociological thinkers started departing from their theological influences toward the modernized view and prospects.
- Sociologists started figuring out a more progressive and causal thought process.
- The social survey system was implemented as a result of the accelerated developmental phase.
- Ideology to improve society emerged which led to the emergence of sociology.
Newer inventions and discoveries.
Discoveries and innovations in various fields by Kepler, Galileo, etc paved a path for social applications and betterment. Hence, enforcing the birth of sociology.
Revolutions.
- The political revolutions underwent in France pointed out many problematic issues in society. It showed the economical, social, and political standards of the individuals in society. As a result, western societies became more conscious of their social structure and quality of life.
- Auguste Comte was highly influenced by these changes and founded sociology.
Rise of the middle class.
- Before the 19th century, no middle class existed. After the 19th century, people started learning more about the standards of living the third class came up.
- The people belonging to the middle class created a different class of aspirations which brought about the structural division.
Hence all such developments required a specified body of knowledge to explain social changes at the individual level. All such factors led to the origin of sociology.
