The findings.

It was in 1995 when an excavating system led by Ivan Turk discovered a bone flute in the cave of Divje babe near Cerkno. This cave is located near the Idrijca River lying to the northeastern edge of Šebrelje plateau and consists of a bear. It is estimated that the layer deposited over the fluid is more than 50 millennia old.

Considering it from the date of its discovery, the flute is known to be more than 50,000 years old. Belonging to the Palaeolithic or the old age, this flute was an artifact of greater use in the ancient period. Its age was evaluated based on the electron spin resonating technique using a bear tooth.

More about its creation.

The historical flute with an amazing artistic creation was made in a truly different way. The artisans made it using the thighbone of a young cave bear. Moreover, it had four holes pierced through the middle for the passage of air to make a sound. Two of these holes were wholly covered whereas two were partly preserved.

It is believed that these holes were punctured using a pointed stone tool and a hollow carved bone. However many other practical experiments and analyses have also revealed many other tools of the stone age to have been used for making the “world’s oldest musical instrument”.
